Dr. Logan McDowell was born and raised in Miami, FL. She received her BA from Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY and her masters and doctoral degrees in Developmental Psychology from Florida International University (FIU). Prior to her enrollment at FIU, Dr. McDowell worked as an Assistant Teacher at the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, which is where she first discovered her passion for education.
Dr. McDowell is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst whose research has focused on improving intervention techniques for individuals with autism. She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at local and national conferences on topics including the use of video-modeling for improving imitation, and an innovative curriculum for early intensive behavioral intervention. Dr. McDowell has also served as an adjunct professor at FIU for the past two years, teaching courses on behavior analysis as well as a course she designed on autism and early intervention.
Most recently, she has held the position of Assistant Director of Education at The Victory Center for Autism and Related Disabilities in North Miami. Prior to that she worked as the Assistant Director of the Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention Program at FIU, a program that she helped found in early 2012. Dr. McDowell is extremely passionate about and inspired by the work that she does and is excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Tikvah Center team.
