Dr. Rosalie Binder has been the Director of BenGamla Charter School for the past four years. During that time, she also served as the reading intervention specialist providing support for those students who scored below the50th percentile in reading on statewide assessments. Prior to being the Director of BenGamla, she was the Head of School, at Greenfield Day School for over 10 years.
Her early years of professional life began as a fourth grade teacher in Montgomery County Maryland. Upon moving to Miami, she became a Reading Specialist and worked at South Dade Hebrew Academy. There, she coordinated a number of reading initiatives that promoted student learning and growth in reading comprehension. This included the use of a linguistic approach to accommodate students needing a different modality to facilitate their individual learning styles. Dr. Binder has served as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University as well as Barry University and The Union Institute.
Dr. Binder served as President of the Jewish Day Schools Association in Miami Dade County for over five years . She has presented at seminars on a variety of topics as well as published and written about Character Education in Schools and Female Bullying as well. She has also written and received several grant awards to support her work in these areas as well as technology. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees at The Union Institute and University where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership.
