Karen Coppa

Born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut (and Hall High School classmate of Rabbi Jacobs), I moved to Miami in 1992 to attend the University of Miami, where I obtained an BA and MBA.  After school, I worked as a buyer for Burdines and I currently work for myself restoring historic homes and building new homes in Coral Gables.  My husband Eric and I have 2 kids, Jason (15) and Adam (12), both of whom attended the Gordon School and who are now students at Gulliver.  We have been active members at Beth David for more than 10 years.  Over the years, I have proudly given my time to both the school and synagogue.  While our kids attended the Gordon School, I focused most of my energy on the school as a room parent, as chair of the Parent’s Association, as a member of the school board, as treasurer of the school board and as School Board Chair.  This led to increased involvement in the Synagogue as a member of the Woman’s League, as a member and officer of the Board of Directors, as chair of the annual Gala, as chair of the personnel committee, as chair of Give Miami Day fundraising and now as the Executive Vice President of the Synagogue.   I have been actively involved in fundraising, physical plant improvements, executive hiring and evaluation, strategic planning and contributing to as many events as I can.

I look forward to seeing Beth David Congregation & The Gordon School further develop and transform and become a beacon to the Jewish Community of Central Miami.
