Rabbi Hector (Tate) Epelbaum
 

Rabbi Hector (Tate) Epelbaum was born in Argentina in 1960 in a traditional Jewish family, married to Berta and father of Tami, Eliel and Uriel. He holds a B.A. in Social Psychology from “The First College for Social Psychology Pichon Reviere” and a M.A. in Organizational & Educational Psychology from the University of Belgrano. Inspired and leaded by the mythical Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer (z’l), he received his Smicha after studying in the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires and in Israel in the Bet Midrash Le Rabanim guided by Rabbi Shmuel Avidor Hacohen (z”l).

In addition, he participated in many seminars and workshops for profit and non profit organizations, expanding his skills in the areas of Fundraising, Counseling, Human Resource Development, Institutional Relations, Communication in Organizations. He has also lectured on Education for Diaspora in the Hebrew University, Psychology of the Organizations and History of the Religions in Tel Aviv University.

Always involved in the Conservative Movement, while living in Argentina Rabbi Epelbaum founded two new Conservative congregations in Buenos Aires, the Conservative Movement Youth Organization and the Interfaith Group for the Next Clergy. During his rabbinate in Israel, served in the Masorti/Conservative congregation of Netanya, as well as Board Member of the Masorti Movement in Jerusalem, and developed educational programs for the Tali Foundation.

Rabbi Epelbaum is also board member of the Israeli Cultural Institute for Miami and Puerto Rico, Vice-President of the Greater Miami Rabbinical Association, and recently named by Mayor Manny Diaz as part of his “Faith-Based Advisory Council” for the City of Miami.
